I’ve been eager to try Gray Zone Warfare since it was first introduced last year. It appeared almost too impressive. As an open-world extraction shooter similar to Escape From Tarkov, it’s exactly the kind of game I enjoy. After playing it, I can confirm that it largely meets expectations.
Learning how to accept quests and summon a helicopter was tough on its own. My first mission ended badly when I rushed into a village and got shot instantly.
Like other similar games, Gray Zone Warfare can be very unforgiving. A single bullet from simple AI enemies can be deadly, and rushing into a crowd of enemies leads to quick regret.
This attempt went much smoother. I proceeded carefully to my objectives. Upon seeing two enemies on the street ahead, I shot them in the head quite easily and picked up a better weapon that provided more firepower.
I’m concerned that this issue might continue even after the test, such as during the first early access release or after a reset. Since everyone in your faction begins in the same location with identical tasks, the first group to start will enjoy it the most.
Subsequent players might just end up walking the same path with little left to do, and it’s unclear how to easily solve this problem.
I’m looking forward to playing more, especially the battles against other real players and discovering more of the large map. Gray Zone Warfare already stands out as something unique. It may take some time to fully develop its potential, but the foundation is strong. With more time, it could truly rival games like Tarkov and DayZ.
What we think?
I think Gray Zone Warfare will become a popular game. It’s hard but fun. You start with easy weapons and get better ones by being careful. The game might have problems when new players join because everyone starts the same.
I’m excited to fight other players and explore more. It needs time to grow but could be as good as games like Tarkov and DayZ.
