Many people are reporting an Apple ID outage tonight. Users on social media mention being logged out of their Apple ID on various devices this Friday evening. They had to reset their passwords to log back in.
We first heard about people being signed out of their Apple IDs at about 8 p.m. ET. Since then, the issue has become more noticeable on social media.
Apple’s System Status webpage shows no problems with its services tonight. However, reports on social media suggest there are some issues at Apple. Some of us at 9to5Mac have also experienced this problem directly.
Users are being logged out of their Apple ID on all devices. Trying to log in with the original password results in being locked out. Users must reset their password to log back in. There’s no clear reason why this is occurring.
It’s uncertain if the issues on Friday evening are connected to the password reset attacks we’ve been following for weeks.
Also, if Stolen Device Protection is on, getting randomly signed out of an Apple ID can be a major problem if you’re not near a trusted location.
Another issue is that resetting your Apple ID password will also reset any app-specific passwords you set through iCloud.
I’ve contacted Apple for more details and will provide an update if I receive a response.
Have you been logged out of your Apple ID on your devices tonight? Please share in the comments.

Seems at least some of us are experiencing issues with our iCloud/Apple ID accounts where we have to reset our passwords and re-login.
Anyone else?

Apple just demanded I enter my AppleID password, then after doing so it requested my phone passcode,
then locked my account and demanded I reset my AppleID password
