If you were let down by the Motorola Edge 50 Pro’s launch in India last week because it only had an average Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chip, don’t worry. The real top-tier Android phone from Motorola for this year hasn’t been released yet.
Following a big leak a few weeks back and some hints dropped recently, it looks like the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra will be revealed soon, boasting a lot more power.
The whole Edge (2024) lineup is set to be announced worldwide on April 16. A somewhat mysterious new X post has confirmed just how strong the top model in this series will really be.
Motorola hasn’t shared much about the inner workings and specs of the Edge 50 Ultra yet, but it’s confirmed that it will have a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor.
This means the soon-to-be-released “masterpiece” will fully utilize its blend of “intelligence meets art,” although this doesn’t say much about its actual performance.

It’s important to note that Geekbench listings for products not yet on the market might not always be reliable, but this one seems as credible as they get.
The Motorola Edge 50 Ultra, still not officially released and featuring Android 14 and 12GB of RAM, was put through speed tests. As expected, it didn’t match the outstanding single and multi-core scores of devices such as the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
The new Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC in the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra is not the same as the regular Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 found in some top Android smartphones today. This doesn’t necessarily mean the Edge 50 Ultra will have problems with everyday tasks.
However, it does suggest that this premium Motorola phone might be cheaper than the Galaxy S24 Ultra, possibly even the S24+ and OnePlus 12. After all, isn’t affordability more crucial than a theoretical power edge that might not even be noticeable in regular use?
What we think?
I think the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra will be a hit. It’s got a strong Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip, not the top, but still good. It runs Android 14 and has 12GB RAM, which is cool. It might not beat the Galaxy S24 Ultra in speed tests, but it sounds like it’ll be more affordable. That’s great for folks who want a solid phone without spending too much.
