Apple aims to price its upcoming fourth-generation iPhone SE below $500. This is despite the rumored upgrades for the budget-friendly device.
Leaker Revegnus on X says the U.S. launch price of the fourth-generation iPhone SE will either stay at $429 or go up by about 10%. Apple still plans to keep the price below $500.
If the iPhone SE 4 is indeed <$500,
Then midrange androids are doomed.
Android makers will have to make improvements to their midrange or suffer the consequence of losing marketshare to Apple.

The Information reported last week that Apple plans to launch a redesigned iPhone SE in spring 2025. It will stay as the “cheaper” iPhone option. The design will be similar to the iPhone 14, replacing Touch ID and the Home button with Face ID and a display notch.
The iPhone SE 4 might switch to an OLED display instead of an LCD. Its display size will grow from 4.7 inches to 6.1 inches. Other rumored features include a USB-C port and an Action button.
The panel prices for the iPhone SE 4 are reportedly much lower than those for the iPhone 15’s OLED displays. This is because the SE will use older parts like those in the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14, so suppliers won’t need new R&D investments. Display manufacturers have been bidding to supply these panels since at least last August.
The third-generation iPhone SE came out in March 2022. There is likely a high demand for a new model with some of the latest features from Apple’s flagship iPhones. For more details on the iPhone SE 4, check our dedicated roundup.
What we think?
I think the new iPhone SE 4 will be a great budget choice. It will look like the iPhone 14 and have Face ID. The screen will be bigger and better with OLED. It will still be under $500, which is good.
The USB-C port and Action button are nice updates. Using older parts to keep costs down is smart. Overall, it will be a good, affordable option with modern features.
